Mature horses that are used for pleasure have the lowest nutrient requirements. How often and how long a horse is ridden or used for other activities and quality of forage will determine if a concentrate feed is needed. Most horses occasionally used will not need a concentrate feed provided good-quality forages are fed along with a complete mineral-vitamin supplement (usually fed free-choice). Body condition should be used as an indicator for concentrate feeding or use of an energy supplement.
Refer to Usage & Feeding Guidelines under the “Resources” section for recommended products to feed to pleasure horses. Additional energy can be supplied with HEALTHY GLO® or MOORGLO®.
